Galería de las Misiones is pleased to announce the exhibition "The abstract life. María Freire and José Pedro Costigliolo" that is presented in the format of online only exhibition in collaboration with the online art platform Artsy.
María Freire (Montevideo 1917-2015) and José Pedro Costigliolo (Montevideo 1902-1985) are considered two of the most outstanding visual artists of the second half of the 20th century, within the Uruguayan and Latin American geometric abstraction.
The show is an antologic exhibition composed by 70 artworks on paper from all the periods of both artists. The works on paper also includes several sketches that on top of having an intrisic artistic value "per se" gives us an idea of the creative processes of Costigliolo and Freire.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with texts by Manuel Neves and will be online until the beginning of September 2020.
