We are pleased to share that our artist Pablo Atchugarry is the subject of a major institutional exhibition at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GNAMC) in Rome, titled “Pablo Atchugarry. Scolpire la Luce”, curated by Gabriele Simongini. The exhibition is on view from 19 May to 21 June 2026 and is included in the general admission ticket to the museum.
Uruguayan by birth and Italian by adoption, Atchugarry is renowned for his mastery in carving statuary marble from Carrara, in a tradition that recalls Michelangelo’s “per forza di levare”. His work opens this classical sculptural language to a deeply spiritual vision, in which sculpture becomes a form of inner questioning, prayer and a search for the infinite.
“Scolpire la Luce” brings together around fifty sculptures created over the last three decades, offering a comprehensive overview of Atchugarry’s research. Alongside his iconic white marbles, the exhibition includes works in wood from centuries‑old olive trees, alabaster, enamelled bronze and steel, underlining the breadth of his sculptural experimentation.
The exhibition is further enriched by a group of sculptures installed within the museum’s permanent collection, establishing new dialogues with artists such as Jean Arp, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Giacometti and Henry Moore. On the occasion of the show, Atchugarry has donated to GNAMC the marble work “Splendore” (2026), created specifically for the museum’s collection.
We congratulate Pablo Atchugarry on this important recognition and warmly invite our community to discover “Scolpire la Luce” in Rome, where his works guide the gaze upwards and offer a contemplative, regenerating experience of light and form.
